For more than 25 years, I have walked alongside people through seasons of growth, transition, uncertainty, healing, and purpose.
My work is shaped by faith, guided by compassion, and informed by my education in Psychology and Marriage and Family Therapy. I seek to create a safe and thoughtful space where people can reflect honestly, explore what matters most, and take meaningful next steps toward greater clarity, connection, and wholeness.
Whether you are an individual, church, organization, helping professional, or entrepreneur, I would be glad to connect and explore how I can support your journey.
Coaching is for individuals who are not necessarily seeking therapy, but want guided reflection, spiritual clarity, and practical support for moving forward.
This may be a good fit if you feel stuck, spiritually empty, emotionally stretched, or unsure how to move from insight into action. Coaching creates space to explore what has formed you, what may be keeping you stuck, and what practices can help you live with greater presence, purpose, and alignment.
Counseling provides a confidential clinical space for TN residents, including individuals, couples, and families navigating emotional, relational, or mental health concerns.
As a licensed marriage and family therapist, Paul offers therapy for Tennessee residents seeking support through life transitions, relationship struggles, grief, anxiety, trauma-related concerns, spiritual concerns, family stress, or patterns that feel difficult to change.
Counseling can include faith integration when desired, but it is never forced. The goal is to provide a safe, respectful space where the whole person can be heard and supported.
Consulting is for churches, nonprofits, pastors, and ministry leaders who want to strengthen how they care for people.
Many communities want to provide meaningful support but lack clear structures for trauma-informed care, spiritual formation, volunteer support, outreach, or referral pathways. Transforming Presence helps leaders think through how to build compassionate, sustainable systems of care that honor both spiritual needs and whole-person development.
Transforming Presence was created by Paul Highfill, LMFT, a licensed marriage and family therapist with more than twenty years of experience in foster care, community mental health, leadership, training, and faith-integrated care.
At the heart of this work is a simple conviction:
We become more fully present when we learn to recognize what has formed us and how we are connected with ourselves, others and God.
Transformation rarely begins by trying harder. It often begins by noticing what has been shaping us beneath the surface.
Reveal is the process of slowing down enough to recognize the beliefs, patterns, wounds, pressures, and stories that may be influencing how you relate to yourself, others, and God.
Reset is the process of challenging distorted beliefs, survival patterns, and ways of coping that may have once helped but now limit freedom, connection, and trust.
Renewal happens as new patterns are practiced over time: healthier boundaries, deeper honesty, spiritual openness, emotional awareness, and a more grounded way of living and serving.
